Heritage Barn Retrofit for Off-grid Hospitality
Transforming a heritage barn into sustainable group accommodation tailored for off-grid rural hospitality
This 300-year-old barn in the Yorkshire Dales National Park will be retrofitted to meet Passivhaus certification. The building will be powered through renewable energy generation, independent from the national grid. The former barn will be used for group accommodation. This is part of a wide strategy to find diversified use for derelict agricultural buildings in the national park in an effort to prevent further loss of heritage assets whilst enhancing the natural landscape.
