Dynamic Thermal Modelling (DesignBuilder)

Creation of a DSM model for the building facilitates the accurate calculation of whole site and room by room supply and demand energy figures for both heating and cooling. This provides the fundamental basis for the following:

  • energy generation sizing

  • room by room heating and cooling sizing

  • total system efficiencies for energy and carbon optimisation purposes

  • user profiling for occupancy based optimisation and comfort

  • Part O compliance check, understanding if the building will conform to the new building regulations.

  • The DSM model also facilitates the design of building services (specification, sizing, and layout) for ventilation, space heating, hot and cold water, and renewable energy generation.
